Intensive block therapy (IBT) is recommended over regular low-dose distributed therapy regardless of GMFCS level.2-5 In unilateral CP, intervention demonstrates greater effectiveness in a critical period during the first 2 years of life. IBT may be effective in children with QCP as young as 21-months of age. IBT during the critical period, before 24-months of age, may influence GMFCS level, independent mobility, and activity participation. Therapists treating infants with QCP should consider implementing IBT during the critical period to maximize functional skill development. The GMFM should also be utilized to measure the skills gained.
