Scoliosis Basics: Evidence-Informed Approach to Understanding and Treating Patients with Scoliosis (Day 1)

This is a two-day lecture/workshop on educating and improving a physical therapist’s clinical decision making in the examination, evaluation, goal setting, treatment planning, treatment execution, and treatment modification for patients with scoliosis using evidence-informed literatures, guidelines, and recommendations.
Learning Objectives:
Demonstrate better understanding of scoliosis by being able to describe scoliosis-specific terms used in published literatures
Be able to radiologically measure Cobb angle/vertebral rotation/skeletal maturity, apply and correlate radiologic measurements (and patient examination) with available science in predicting scoliosis progressions, and be able to refer out appropriately
Review available surgical and non-surgical (conservative) management of patients with scoliosis, review available scoliosis outcome measures, and perform basic scoliosis physical therapy examinations.
