APTA Pediatrics: Information on Academy Accomplishments, Plans, and Operations – What are We Doing?

Location: Ballroom A, 2nd Floor, CHI Convention Center
This session is designed to provide all members and non-members of APTA Pediatrics, including PTs, PTAs, and students, with an update of what the Academy has accomplished, is currently working on, and what is in our plans for the future. Information on new and existing member benefits, including priorities for development and distribution, and what we have in the works for future professional development will be part of this session. The session will be introduced and facilitated by the APPT President and will include short presentations by a few other members of the APPT Board of Directors and APTA staff. Each of these Academy leaders will share a brief synopsis of their role, accomplishments, and plans. The President will also share updates from APTA, including the restructuring of engagement groups and priorities for APTA Pediatrics. Other topics will include: APTA Pediatrics website, modes of communication, use of social media, distribution of grants, awards and scholarships, need for advocacy, leadership development, and opportunities for pursuing committee and elected positions.
This session is for YOU – come hear what your elected leaders are doing and how APTA Pediatrics works on behalf of all of us to support children and families. Let’s talk about what you want, what you need, and what you believe is the future of this organization. A short presentation by Rachel Miller, APTA Specialist for Health Policy and Payment, will be included.
Learning Objectives:
Identify at least one area (SIG, priority, position, or resource) of APTA Pediatrics that is of greatest interest to support your own work as a pediatric PT/PTA or student PT/PTA.
Discuss one or more accomplishments of APTA Pediatrics in the past 1-2 years.
Understand the current priorities and plans for APTA Pediatrics and how you can become more engaged in this academy.
